A TRIBUTE TO LEATHERFACE 2 x CD AVAILABLE TO ORDER NOW!!!
Newest Industry is now taking orders on Rubber Factory Records' incredibly long awaited LEATHERFACE tribute double CD album, which you can find in the shop. What I'm doing will be ordering in pretty much only as many copies that are paid for, due to the fact that it is such a limited release and is probably going to sell out pretty soon. Last time I spoke to JDM, he said only 1,300 copies were going on sale, after promo and band copies had gone out. I think he pressed 2,000 in all. Eitherway, this is an absolutely amazing release that's been over two years in the making. Hell, I remember when JDM flew over from Toronto for the Newest Industry all-dayer in Cardiff back in September, 2005 and he was going on about it then!Well it's finally done and has definitely been worth the wait. Not only are Newest Industry bands A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, FOUR LETTER WORD and FORMER CELL MATES included on it, there's also a ton of other great efforts on here from the likes of MONIKERS, HOT WATER MUSIC, THE SAINT CATHERINES, THE TIM VERSION, FOUR DUMB KIDS, TILTWHEEL, DRUNK, RADON and TONS more!!! It's almost worth picking up for FOR THE DAY's cover of "Live For You" which is given an almost drum'n'bass treatment - no shit!!! The packaging is also astonishing, and to top it off there's also an absolutely brilliant picture of me in the booklet! Ahem... So anyway, we'll get getting these shipped in a week or two, so please order ASAP to avoid disappointment. *ALL orders of this release will get a FREE Newest Industry CD of my choosing!
   WINTER INTO SPRING 2008
For those couple of people that care, Newest Industry is not completely dead, however it has ceased to function on the level it has done in the past. It is no longer a "business" and the basic thinking behind it is that the label is now my Sunday afternoon hobby. Kind of like baking scones. You may see one seven inch release per year - if you're lucky, and if I have any spare cash. I was thinking one release every Hallowe'en, something like that... And as it happens the first Newest Industry release for a ridiculously long amount of time (the new FOUR LETTER WORD 7" EP "Staring Down The Barrel") is in stock now. It's a split release with Damaged Records and No Idea. It's limited to about 500 and something copies, and comes in three colours. For more information on this little plastic bundle of joy, click on releases in the menu. Also, you may have noticed that I made a new website. It took weeks, and is an html warzone, but I like it. I just wanted to use the colour purple. Way too much. I would just like to point out that you really need to look at this site in Mozilla Firefox. It looks just about right in that, but not really that great in Internet Explorer. I tried my best to make it all look reasonable in both, but if there are any majorly glaring errors, please let me know and I shall try to fix them. I did notice the "hover overs" have been especially slow - but I just figured it out, so they should be fixed now. Some other things to note : I'm not really in a position to update bands gig and tour dates daily anymore, so your best bet for that information is to check out the relevant band's website or MySpace page (which you can find links to on their pages on this website)... There's a new kitten in town, he's called Xenu. That makes three in all. I'm happy about this... Rubber Factory Records from Toronto, Canada (and run by one of the most awesome people I've ever met) will soon be releasing a tribute to LEATHERFACE. It is to be a 2 x CD package (seriously!) and even features some Newest Industry bands including FOUR LETTER WORD, A DEATH IN THE FAMILY and FORMER CELL MATES. That alone is wild, but when you add bands like MONIKERS, HOT WATER MUSIC, THE GREAT ST LOUIS, TILTWHEEL, RADON and THE TIM VERSION into the mix you just know it really is going to be the best damn LEATHERFACE tribute that shall ever be, right? Listen to J CHURCH and CRINGER... RIP Lance Hahn.
