01/08/10 - MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED LP IN STOCK NOW!!!
After a few months of hard work Newest Industry recently took delivery of our first 12" vinyl LP, "Museum of Mistakes" by Los Angeles based political punk rock band MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED. And what can I say, other than it sounds amazing, looks great and it's limited to just 300 copies on classic black vinyl (coloured is for nerds, we all know records sound better on black)... also, the record comes with a nifty download code that includes two extra tracks. You can BUY THE RECORD HERE! and READ ABOUT THE BAND HERE! You can also read a GREAT review of the record on PUNKNEWS.ORG! In a few years time I can guarantee you that people are going to look back on this album as a seminal classic, so don't miss out!

03/05/10 - FOUR LETTER WORD "AN INVITIATION TO A HANGING" EP FREE DOWNLOAD!
Here's an explanation of the EP from the band : "This is a new EP we recorded on 28th and 29th April 2010. The four songs were written in the last few weeks with the 2010 UK general election in mind. We’re not going to bother creating some clever angle. We could say "this one's for the fans" or "get involved in our marketing", but we'd just be lying. We just decided, in the interest of expediency and plastic that this was the best way forward. Thanks for your interest in Four Letter Word." You can download the EP as a ZIP file BY CLICKING ON THIS LINK or get the tracks and artwork from these individual links (right click and "save as" to download the MP3's) :
01. BARBED WIRE PSYCHOSIS
02. THIRD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT

12/04/10 - "MUSEUM OF MISTAKES" LP (w/ DL CODE) NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER!
As promised, the brand new album from MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED (and the first vinyl LP release for Newest Industry) is now available for pre-order!!! Turn around from this point onwards should be around a month and a half or so. The vinyl (which you can read about here) is strictly limited to 300 copies (plus with a batch going to the band, and a couple getting put in the Newest Industry archives, we're looking at more like 230 copies that will only actually be available to buy) and also comes with a DOWNLOAD CODE (supplied by the awesome DownloadMyVinyl.com), which includes 2 extra tracks. This lovely package will also include a printed inner sleeve with all the lyrics on. Your only other option for purchase (as Newest Industry no longer presses CD's), if you're not of the vinyl persuasion, is from iTunes and that is actually available now, you just need to click THIS LINK! I've tried to keep the vinyl priced as reasonably as possible, especially with such a low run (in fact, 300 is the least amount the pressing plant can do) and with almost 7 UK pounds going on postage and packaging to the US, the record is basically being put out at manufacturing price - so please pick it up and help me to break even!

20/03/10 - MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED "MUSEUM OF MISTAKES" LP COMING SOON!
I think it's fair to say that sometimes life surprises you. Right when I was about to call it quits for good with Newest Industry, I stumbled across a band from Los Angeles called MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED. The band features ex-members of THE ACTUAL, which was the band I was looking up originally. So I stumbled across some tracks and emailed the band just to let them know that I thought they were doing a great job; that their combination of excellent music and intelligent politics was just what I was looking for. After just a few hours I got a reply - "we have an album ready to go if you want it." I realised I'd be insane to pass this opportunity up so of course said yes. What this means is that hopefully sometime in May 2010 I shall be taking delivery of MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED's 12 track vinyl LP called "Museum of Mistakes"... I just need to tie up the art, get some mastering done and we're good to go. I will also be announcing a pre-order of the record a few weeks before release, as the pressing will be very limited (at the moment to 300 copies) so I want to give people a chance to not miss out. The album will also be available through iTunes (with 2 bonus tracks), and anyone that purchases the vinyl version of LP should get a download code for all 14 songs. Please follow Newest Industry on Twitter / Facebook for more frequent updates regarding pre-orders, band and release pages (which shall be going up on this website soon)... more news to follow!
BREAKING NEWS FOR OCTOBER 1st, 2009 - NEW FOUR LETTER WORD ALBUM!
Out of the blue and almost exactly 2 years to the day since Newest Industry put its last release out (the FOUR LETTER WORD 7" "Staring Down The Barrel") I am seriously happy to announce that I'm joint releasing the fourth FOUR LETTER WORD album "Follow As The Crow Flies",which features 10 brand new songs recorded and mastered by Frankie Stubbs of LEATHERFACE (you can hear three tracks right now on the player!) with the truly legendary and awesome Boss Tuneage Records! Welly from the band wrote a little blurb about it for some websites, but I'll just give you my honest opinion on it - it's a classic! If anything it's much more of a direct sequel to "Zero Visibility" due mainly to the return of original lead guitarist Jon Butler. The sound on "Follow As The Crow Flies" is familiar, yet more concise than their past albums, and coming at you with 10 tracks in just under 33 minutes the band has really cut out the filler and gone straight for the jugular. If you're a fan of the band, or just the sound and outlook of Newest Industry as a whole, you'll absolutely love this record! The album is available on CD, and only a few hundred have been pressed up at the moment due to "the credit crunch", so make sure you don't miss out! I've been playing it on repeat for the last couple of weeks, and I am sure you will too.

INTRODUCING 40 HELLS (EX-BLACK COUGAR SHOCK UNIT)
Coming out of Atlanta, USA is the immense 40 HELLS, featuring Joel Perdue - BLACK COUGAR SHOCK UNIT's final drummer - as well Shane Secor (Guitar / Vocals) They've been demoing some new stuff over the last year or so, and the news just in is that they're all done with recording and mastering, and are now finalising the details of the sleeve design for their debut 7". This would be exciting news anyway, but the fact that Newest Industry will also be involved obviously makes it ten times as awesome for me personally. Having been through some pretty turbulent experiences on the road with Joel in the past, and knowing just how genuinely punk rock and sincere the guy is - and of course, what a great drummer he is - it means a lot to me to be involved with his latest project. The guy is the living epitome of the BLACK FLAG work ethic - walking the walk, not just talking the talk. In these super fast, internet driven times, it's important for me to know I'm working with folks that are the real deal and I'm glad to say 40 HELLS fit the bill for sure. The band will have their own page up on this website soon, but for now please make sure you check them out on MYSPACE and their new blog HERE for tour dates and other news. More 40 HELLS 7" info coming soon!
SPRING INTO SUMMER 2009 - AND BEYOND!!!
So Newest Industry is not completely dead, however it has ceased to function on the level it has done in the past and the basic thinking behind it is that the label is now my Sunday afternoon hobby. Kind of like baking scones. You may see one release per year - if you're lucky! Some other things to note : I'm not really in a position to update bands gig and tour dates daily anymore, so your best bet for that information is to check out the relevant band's website or MySpace page (which you can find links to on their pages on this website)... RIP Lance Hahn.
