MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED hail from Los Angeles, California and began as "a band and a blog" in late 2007. For almost 2 years they wrote, recorded and gave away a song a week via their blog / MySpace page / Facebook page and internet newspaper The Huffington Post in a small attempt to create social and political change via the vehicle of music as a means of political commentary. After two years and 61 songs, the band went on hiatus due to lead singer / songwriter Max Bernstein (ex-THE ACTUAL) getting the job of touring guitarist for pop act KE$HA. This has meant Max has been pretty much permanently on the road since September 2009. However, right before this MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED re-recorded a collection of some of their favourite songs from their massive back catalogue to eventually release as an album (finally ending up as "Museum of Mistakes" on Newest Industry)... throughout the band's "career" the object was never to profit from the music (hence they gave it all away for free) and this ideal has been carried over into the bands release of "Museum of Mistakes" (very limited run of vinyl, with no more of an aim than to break even financially and spread their music to anyone who cares to listen). Musically, the band's list of influences includes a huge list of seminal bands : HUSKER DU, TED LEO & THE PHARMACISTS, CRASS, JAWBREAKER, MINUTEMEN, LAWRENCE ARMS, THE POSIES, X-RAY SPEX, BILLY BRAGG, MDC, KARATE, THE JAM and many more, and it shows in their music, which is a unique mix of all the above plus more.
