This is the debut CDEP (well, 7 tracks and over 25 minutes, so I guess it's a "mini album") from BLACK COUGAR SHOCK UNIT that consist(ed) of ex-members of PANTHRO UK UNITED 13, DISCOUNT, HOUSE ON FIRE, UNITAS and also ARMY OF PONCH. Plus a current member of THE DRAFT. This band is a serious Gainesville, Florida super group! Musically, this is what you'd expect from Alex Ulloa (singer, guitarist) - intelligent, brilliant, melodic punk rock with a dark and, at times, menacingly heavy edge. If you are familiar with PANTHRO UK and HOUSE ON FIRE, this is a progression from that, but is also definitely in the same ball park. The guitars are some of the most amazing I've ever heard, and together with such fantastic songwriting, the end result is something truly special indeed. And just to top things off, there's also a new version of PANTHRO UK UNITED 13's excellent track "I'm Not Drunk, I Hate You" here. It's more powerful than the original and sounds just amazing.
